It started off with Britney Spears and Jonah Hill’s little sketch. Ah, customary. I don’t get the whole ‘close-your-eyes-and-relax-while-I-kiss-you-only-to-have-you-scream-when-you-suddenly-open-you-eyes-and see-me’ thing.
Then Britney opened the VMAs. She looked okay to me. Which brings us to…
Rihanna! Love the whole zombie and spidery thing going on.
She later performed with T.I. Some song which sounded like the 'Numa, Numa' Chicken Little song.
Oh crap. How could I forget the host of the night, Russell Brand? Frankly, he talks a lot with really exaggerated hand gestures about sex, purity rings, America, the Jonas Brothers, Katy Perry and…oh, I don’t know. I wasn’t paying attention. He scares me too. Those huge, big eyes and unkempt hair. Such a weirdo but zany. I like the guy.
Then we have Leona Lewis, Li’l Wayne and T-Pain collaborating on…gosh, I don’t know what song it is. Coz I only remembered Li’l Wayne’s white pants down to his butt and his black underwear. I think it’s Polo Ralph Lauren. Oh yeah, it is.
Later, Li’l Wayne performed with Kid Rock who is wearing a black tracksuit and a black fedora. Looks like he just went jogging and remembered, “Hey, the VMAs!”, got into his limo and dumped the first hat he found on his head. Oh, man. Li'l Wayne's pants again. To quote Russell Brand, "God bless his soul."
The Jonas Brothers’ seemingly outdoor performance was kinda cool too. Let’s take a dig at Joe’s bow-tie and red crescent-shaped tambourine. So darn cute. And when the background thingies got moved off….wow.
Linkin Park’s ‘Shadow of the Day’ for Best Rock Video. Hello, did Paramore actually think they’d win when they get pitted against the best rock band ever? Hah.
